We stayed four nights at the Hilton for a trade show at the convention center. The hotel is wonderful. Food very good. The only thing that it is lacking is a microwave and refridgerator in the rooms. Being there that long, keeping drinks iced down in the sink is a little inconvienent !

I stayed here for a business trip in conjunction with a convention happening right next door. The location is excellent (for convention-related trips), and very convenient to several other downtown appointments I had during my trip. The room was beautiful, although my "view" was a parking-lot sized rooftop, and the top of the Toyota Center - thankfully the room was pretty enough to justify closing the curtains. The hotel is absolutely mammoth, so it is slightly confusing to navigate, but the coupon you receive as a government employee for free breakfast is pretty hard to beat at a hotel like this one. You can even redeem your coupon at the little Starbucks counter for coffee/juice/pastries/fruit if you are on the go (as I always am). Valet parking was a little steep ($*/night), and I was disappointed that a hotel of that size wasn't able to offer me a cash advance charged to my room so that I could have cash to tip the valet. I've done the cash advance thing at another high-end chain hotel in San Antonio with no problem, so I was surprised that they weren't able to accommodate. Another plus to this hotel - it's accross the street from beautiful Discovery Green and The Grove Restaurant. I would stay here again - for sure.

my 10 month old daughter and i were caught in a flash flood (yay houston) and instead of trying to brave our way through, we chose to stay at the hilton on lamar in houston, which is where i am as i write this. the room is great. i quite like it. nice tv, spacious business center, posh bed, large bathroom, superb climate controls... the staff is friendly and courteous. the receptionist gave me a discount out of pity (i had a *really* bad day), i had a lady come in and set up a crib for my daughter, the gentleman who delivered my room service order was friendly and efficient... but i had 3 service charges on my room service order, which caused our (tasteless) chicken fingers and sprite to cost $30. i have to pay $16 for parking, and then i had to walk through the garage to get to the lobby. what the heck is that? the internet is $11. if i wanted to use the gym, it would cost me $12. will i have to pay for the soap that i used in the shower, too?? by the time i get out of here, this one night is going to cost me about $200, which is utterly ridiculous. it's a nice hotel and i really do like the room, but i won't be staying at a hilton hotel again.

Looking for a place to stay in Houston for a few days? This is the place! First time in Houston for us and we had a great time. We had a standard room (We didnt stay in much) and it was very clean and nice. 4 star quality. Pool was nice and hot tub was great. The outside veranda overlooking Houston was so relaxing, we all fell asleep after a long swim. We also got the generic 'See Houston' package and went to the Space Center (Very Cool), Museum of Natural Science (Extremely Cool), Houston Zoo (Small but one of the cleanest and nicest we've been to) and the Downtown Aquarium (A must see - Make a plan to eat there $$). We also took a horse drawn carriage ride and the operator let my 7 year old daugher sit with her up front (Gave a good tip before we took off). The city seemed to recover well from Hurricane Ike. I know further south was a bit worse, but everything was open. I would recommend paying the $15/day to park in the garage right next to the hotel. There is a connecting bridge to the hotel and provides for easy access. And don't forget to try 'Swampthing' at the Pappadeux restaurant. Good drink!
