The Kempinsky hotel is one of the best hotels in Budapest and well located. The hotel is large, and clean, and well respected. I am happy I chose to stay there. At the end, I had an excellent stay, but things could have been done easier. For example, one of the most bizarre things in this hotel is that all double beds instead of having a large cover, have two separate single covers, barely enough to cover the body of a single person. If you are going to spend the night there with your partner, and snuggling is on the menu, you will get very frustrated. Only the king-size beds come with a normal cover that covers the entire bed or the body of two people. Unfortunately, very few rooms have king-size beds. I asked to change rooms three, times, which is highly unusual for me to ask. I would have preferred staff to act more with a smile when after my first night, I expressed my dissatisfaction that the room was different from the one I had ordered. They grumbled a bit, but to be fair, in the end I did end up with a splendid room. It took a while, as I was told there were no other rooms available despite the hotel being nearly empty. What really turned out to be the case is that for some reason they had closed off several entire floors, whether for legitiimate reasons such as construction, or simply to more effectively organize room service and cleaning during out-of-season, I do not know. Fitness facilities were adequate. I think they had three treadmills of good quality and enough weights and other equipment. They have an excellent spa. Room service was very good, and breakfast elaborate with a lot of choice.

We had a lovely four nights in this hotel. The rooms were very comfortable (we had one king, one with two twins, and a double), clean, warm, quiet, large but cozy. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, always available to answer questions and help out. The food was good and the service was fine. At Christmas, there was live music in the lobby at times, and the decorations were very tasteful and inviting. We would highly recommend this hotel. Also, the location is good for public transportation and for walking to many places. Close to the cathedral and other highlights of the city. The business center also met our needs.

My daughter and I went on a trip with my husband who is a pilot. This is the hotel his airline puts the crew in. We only spent a night there but I've stayed in enough hotels to be able to rate the Kempinski. The hotel room was spacious and very clean. We asked for a cot and it was brought up immediately. Also we had 2 small problems with the bathroom and they were taken care of within an hour or two. The bed, including the cot, were extremely comfortable. I'm a little OCD when it comes to using the bed but I had no qualms whatsoever due to the cleaniless of the room. And the comforters were so plush and soft. I could almost fall asleep thinking of them. The location was great. My daughter and I took a walk while my husband took a nap and I felt completely safe. The Danube was 2 or 3 blocks away and we were near one of the bridges so we could easily walk across to the Buda side, which we did. We could walk to shopping and restaurants and also a Indoor Food Market which was very interesting. Unfortunately we missed the Christmas Market by a day or two, but the start of it would have been only a few minutes walk from the hotel. My husband has used the gym a number of times and says it is adequate, the equipment is new but there are only a couple of treadmills, stationary bikes and a stairmaster. But he said he loves the sauna because it is clean, updated and very relaxing. We did not eat at the restaurant as there are many choices relatively close by.
